Mrs. Coonrod has personally made a huge impact for our family in particular. Our son is currently battling/overcoming an eating disorder, and still needs to eat snacks at school in order to gain weight. He eats his morning snack under the close supervision of Mrs. Coonrod. She stepped right up when I told her I needed help making sure that he was actually eating his snacks, which was a huge relief for me! I don’t even have to worry that Eli is completing them because she makes sure and has him show her when he is finished. Kids with eating disorders can be very manipulative, but I am assured he won’t get away with anything with Mrs. Coonrod supervising him. She is firm with him, which is needed, but also reassures him that she is doing this because she cares about him and doesn’t want him to go back to Denver. Close supervision over Eli isn’t an easy task, which makes me incredibly thankful that she was so willing to take this on. I will never be able to show her enough appreciation! Not only does she care about my child like her own, I feel like she feels this way about all of the kids at the school. No matter what is going on in her day, she greets the children and parents with a smile. She also has a great sense of humor and jokes around with the kids, which I think is super fun for them. MCS is very lucky to have her and wouldn’t be the same without her!
