Composting Vertical Garden Planter

Grant - April 2023

School: Oliver Brown Elementary
Subject/Area of Influence: STEM
Cost of Grant: $347.12

Gardening at school allows children to be aware of the importance around plants. It also helps to inspire their creative talents by choosing plants and arrangements to create their masterpiece. Further, it also provides students with greater knowledge in how to produce their own food. As a new school we have a young garden that our amazing music teacher has headed up. I am one of four Kansas teachers chosen to receive a scholarship to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom conference in Orlando over the summer. I would like to join our music teacher next school year and start a Green Thumb Club. Students would grow plants outside in out outdoor garden as well as indoors with the proposed vertical garden.
