I am applying for this grant because I am a first year teacher. It has been my life long dream to become a teacher and I am so excited that the time has come for me to take on the role as a classroom teacher. When I was hired back in April, I was told I was teaching first grade and just yesterday (Aug. 4th) I was moved to Kindergarten. Now I am starting from scratch with only a week and a half before school starts. In Kindergarten, there are social centers that teach them interpersonal skills and how to be a team player. Being a new section, I am having to buy all my centers and organizational supplies. This grant would be a great blessing to my classroom as it would help me provide what I need for the upcoming year especially with the sudden change in grade level. If awarded the grant, I would use the funds to purchase art supplies, social centers, and math/literacy center carts appropriate for Kindergarten.
