Books for Night School English

Manhattan High School started a Night School program this school year. Because it is a shortened, modified schedule, it is hard to read some of the larger texts we would typically read during the school year. I have selected 6 books that would be good, short selections to read for our Night School students. These pieces would be engaging and beneficial for students as they work on their reading, inference, and analysis skills. During our first semester, we focused mostly on short stories, and on the end of the semester survey, every student said they would prefer to read a larger text together. I am asking for 5 copies of each book linked so that students can read these as small groups and have discussions as they learn and grow academically. I have ranked them in order of importance for our program classes.
